About Our Caregivers
Neighborhood Senior Care is very selective in letting candidates join its organization. Only the best will be hired. We emphasize our search on service-oriented people, not just those who want a job. We are very cognizant of the fact that sending strange people into your home is very much a matter of trust.
All personnel working with Neighborhood Senior Care are
company employees. That means that the organization pays all appropriate
payroll and social security taxes, and completely covers liability, disability
and Workers' Compensation insurance. Before being accepted and to protect
our clients, vendors and employees from violence and theft, every member
on our team must present several verifiable references, have undergone and
passed a criminal background check, posess a current driver's license and
insurance, a current physical and TB test, and a current CPR card. They
must also pass Fire & Safety, and Infection
Control tests. State licenses for Certified Nurses Assistants, Certified
Home Health Aides are verified, and they must pass appropriate proficiency
tests for their disciplines in addition to the basic tests and requirements
of all other personnel.
Neighborhood Senior Care's information and search system is supported by a sophisticated computer database that allows the ideal person, based on skill and location, to fit the client's needs.
No Independent Contractors
Some people in need of home care services hire a caregiver independently because this may seem less expensive. The small amount you pay more when you contract our services versus hiring someone privately, will far outweigh the additional responsibility you have for your share of Social Security, Disability Insurance, Unemployment and Workers' Compensation Insurance, plus dealing with the situation that arises if a caregiver quits or doesn't show up. Neighborhood Senior Care handles all of this to take your worries out of employee management and scheduling, 24 hours a day.
When you hire an independent contractor/caregiver directly,
you become the legal employer and you are responsible for withholding and
paying payroll taxes, Medicare, Social Security and unemployment premiums,
liability, disability and Workers' Compensation insurance. If your employee/caregiver
claims an injury or has a car accident while in your service, you are open
to litigation for all related hospital costs, lost wages, damages etc.
Neighborhood Senior Care is not a broker or referral agency working for a fee by selling addresses to independent contractors. We only work with our own employees for whom we assume all payroll and insurance responsibilities and liabilities related to the care provided.
Training
Neighborhood Senior Care requires all its caregiver personnel to follow its exclusive training courses. To receive a certificate, the student must complete training for homemaker and companion, or personal care assistant.
